ADMISSIONS

Applications are invited for admission into the following programmes:

B. A. IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES
B. A. IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES – Top-Up (Afternoon and Weekend)
DIPLOMA IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES (Morning and Afternoon Sessions)

1. Applicants with the required SSSCE/ WASSSCE qualification are eligible to apply for admission to any of the above programmes.
2. Applicants shall be required to pass a selection interview.
3. Applicants should send two (2) copies of the required certificates directly to the Institute.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

B. A. IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES

SSSCE/WASSSCE HOLDERS
Applicants must possess passes in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) Core English Language, Core Mathematics, Core Social Studies and Core Science and passes in three SSSCE/WASSSCE elective subjects with an overall aggregate of 20 (twenty) or better. The grade for Core English Language should be at least C for SSSCE applicants and B3 for WASSSCE applicants.

DIPLOMA IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES

SSSCE/ WASSSCE HOLDERS
Applicants must possess passes in Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) Core English Language, Core Mathematics, Core Social Studies and Core Science and passes in three SSSCE/WASSSCE elective subjects with an overall aggregate of 24 (twenty-four) or better. The grade for Core English Language should be at least C for SSSCE applicants and B3 for WASSSCE applicants.

APPLICANTS WILL BE SELECTED BASED ON A COMPETITIVE CUT-OFF POINT FOR THE YEAR FOR EACH PROGRAMME.

FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students who hold equivalent qualifications may be considered for admission after successfully passing a selection interview.


B. A. IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES (LEVEL 300/TOP-UP)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. GIJ Diploma holders with an average of Grade B
2. At least two years working experience including National Service
Applicants will be expected to pass a selection interview.

MODE OF APPLICATION
Application forms are obtainable at the Institute at a cost of GH¢70.00 for the Degree course and GH¢60.00 for the Diploma course. Payment is by BANKERS DRAFT ONLY AT ANY BANK payable to Ghana Institute of Journalism.
